Max Joseph Toliver Jr. accepted his calling to the ministry in 2004 and preached his first sermon on March 6, 2005. He was licensed as a Minister in 2007, and ordained in 2009. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Angelia Toliver, since 2012. They have three children, Max III, Zechariah, Jayce, and Angel Toliver.

From 2010 to July 2016, he served as Assistant Pastor of Kingdom Harvest Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Dr. James L. Bishop Jr. in Willis, Texas. In August 2016, God called him to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas, where he continues to serve faithfully as Senior Pastor. In 2019, he became a proud Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated member.

In 2022, he joined the Full Gospel Baptist Church International Fellowship as a Senior Pastor. 

​

After serving as a full-time peace officer for 10 years, he accepted a position as the leadership development manager for the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University in 2023. He is also currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from Sam Houston State University.

He has adopted these wise words from his mother in which she simply says, "Be Real and Not Right."
